With only a few weeks left before the U.S. Census forms are mailed to every household in America, Hispanic community leaders and elected officials joined Voto Latino and Time Warner Cable today to announce a state-wide multi-media campaign to help increase participation in the US Census through the cablecasting of a celebrity packed public service announcement.

At the community forum held on Wednesday, October 28th, Hispanic Outreach Services, Centro Civico Hispanoamericano, and the 2010 Census came together with Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings, Albany County Executive Michael Breslin, Colonie Deputy Supervisor Nancy Hernandez to support the Albany Complete Count Committee, which will ensure every citizen in the region is recognized, specifically the Hispanic community which has a national history of being undercounted.

With hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding at stake to Capital Region cities and towns, a coalition of concerned Latino leaders has created and will unveil the Hispanic Complete Count Committee of the Capital Region. The group will also unveil its web site and its plans to work with the U.S. Census, local government leaders, business and nonprofit sectors to increase awareness on the importance of the 2010 Census and to ensure a proper count of the large Latino population in the region.
